My Developmental Activities Program is correctly explained by Benjamin Franklin’s following quote: “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”
I did my two-month internship with Teach For India in their Fundraising Department which not only helped me to gain knowledge regarding the working of an NGO but also helped me in looking into the broader picture of education for the less privileged. Although my internship was online due to the COVID-19 crisis, that didn’t stop me from learning and diving deep into the issue of education for the underprivileged. My interactions with the Fellows (teachers at TFI) and students is the most memorable part as these students have so much to share and the teaching techniques used cannot make anyone forget a particular topic. I was quite delighted to see many known companies who came forward and were ready to sponsor children’s education and provide them with the internet and other electronic facilities during the tough times even though it was not a part of their CSR.
My experience at Teach For India was full of learning and an unforgettable one as it was my first internship. And learning about the socio-economic concerns and eventually taking steps to improve them is something we all need to look into. The Developmental Activities Program left no stone unturned in acquainting me to this rigorous environment and developing the foundational values of empathy, teamwork, cooperation, communication and the list is never ending. I truly believe that the DAP experience at FLAME University has been successful in developing a sense of belonging with regard to the community amongst the students and has prepared us well for our future jobs.
